As a journalist, art historian and educator, I've always been curious about the intersections between art, culture, education, media, politics and tech.
In addition to consultancy work on projects with a diverse range of clients, I am an associate director with the international arts PR agency, Pickles PR, where I advise on press outreach, communications strategy and cultural diplomacy, collaborating with arts institutions and museums around the world. These include, among others, the National Arts Council, Singapore; the National Gallery of Canada; EMΣT, National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens; Henie Onstad Kunstsenter; Galleri F 15; Colección SOLO; osloBIENNALEN; Pro Helvetia; England’s Creative Coast; Art Cologne; and Creative Scotland.
As an adjunct professor at IE University, I have taught undergraduate and postgraduate classes in event and project management, as well as ‘art, business and social perspectives’. I've been honoured to receive several awards for teaching excellence.
My experience as a journalist has often involved advocating for and leading digital transition, starting with The Guardian and Observer in London, UK, where I worked first in syndication and then as a web editor with Guardian Unlimited. I later took on the role of online news producer at the national TV broadcaster Global News in Montréal, Canada; and then managed social media for the English edition of the newspaper El País in Madrid, Spain. I was also a news writer with S&P Global for seven years, covering media and tech developments in France, and I occasionally write about art and opera.
I've always loved publishing and have edited numerous art catalogues, essay collections, articles and books. In London, I co-founded the sound recording studio, Q Sound, which specialised in audio books, as well as programmes and drama for radio. As a Canadian, a highlight was working on the audiobook for Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake.
I hold a Master (Cantab) and Bachelor in History of Art from the University of Cambridge; studied Publishing at the London School of Printing; and received a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan. I also have training in project management, HTML, various CMS platforms, Adobe programmes, and web design.
Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Canada, I've lived in France, the UK, and Québec, and I'm now based in Madrid, Spain.
